Hello everyone,

I am a Mechanical Engineering Grad, currently working for a Steel making company in Canada. My function there is Maintenance Management and Reliability Support (Somewhat technical). I have been doing that for 2-3 years now.

I am like so-so about the current status of my career, but I don't see manufacturing/Engineering has a very bright future here in North America (maybe the energy sector) due to the rapid growth of China (cheap labour) and India. I was planning to do a part time MBA, but I also hear very good things about CFA. First of all, CFA designation is globally recognized, super good bonuses+salary, and excellent career path.

My background is Chinese, and I thought if I have a CFA designation or if possible and MBA I will have the advantage or at least the eligibility to work for both nations, possibly US as well. Also, with globalization going non-stop, which 'levitates' the Financial industry, making it a fastest growing with a bright future industry. Am I right? Is it a good idea to make the career change? Any good suggestions?

minidesai: You have small chances of passing if you're registering for the Dec-16 exam now. Register for June next year.
