Can someone who has actually taken level 1 please anwser this question for me? I'm currently reading the quantitave methods section of the curriculum and I've gotten to skewness. Calculating skewness for a mutual fund for example would take at least 10 minutes and there really isn't any shortcut to doing this. Would the exam question be more of a conceptual/understanding question or would I actually have to calculate this stuff? If its just conceptual I probably shoudln't spend as much time studying the actual application and calculation of these types of concepts right? |

I cant remember having to do any long calculations. Know the simpler calculations, like MAD and harmonic mean, for example. And yes, understand the concepts. DO THE CFA MOCK EXAM when they release it and you will have a good idea of the sorts of questions! |
