when shall I use cov(A,B)/[standard deviation(A)*standard deviation(B)], when shall I use cov(A,B)/var(A) ? why?

cov(A,B)/[standard deviation(A)*standard deviation(B)]
This is the correlation coefficient.

cov(A,B)/var(A)
This is Beta, the slope of the regression line.
