Hi there, I am sorry i am not sure is it ok to post this topic here! I am a London based Charted Accountant, working in travel industry. I am 23 and thinking of making the career move from accounting to more hard core finance> My worry is am a slightly old to change my career now? Would this age factor is an issue for people like me with no pervious finance track record? Coz i wary that i have to start all over again?? All views are welcome>>> |

23 is definitely not old!! Also, fact you are already CA will help make the move easier. If you take a look at some of the jobs on offer, you will see some that are trainee positions for CAs looking to make the move into finance. Go for it! |

Hi Leese, Thanks for that, thats really helps. I am seriously considering of doing the exams in June 2016. How should i plan my career move? Should i wait till i finish my level 1 exams and look for opportunities? Or should i start fishing for jobs from now onwards? |

If you werent already a CA I would say wait. But given you are then I dont see why you cant go fishing for jobs now. If you have experience in a certain sector as a CA, then try to find posts for jobs looking for analysts in that sector might make the move easier. I used to work in the telco and media sector as an assistant analyst and they filled the role for a senior telco analyst with someone who had been a CA for a telco company, he had no actual finance experience. |
