L2 people have you guys started studying yet? This time, I mean for L2 I wanted to take things slowly and make sure I absorbed the material. I want to avoid the last moment rush, though it seems inevitable almost always. All L2 people plz join this forum. Though it is true that a local study group would help, I don't have any such group where I live. So, maybe an online study group might be of more help to me and some others. I'm starting a new thread for online L2 study group. L2 candidates plz join and L3 candidates, any help from you ppl is really appreciated. Thanks |
danlan2 @2006-08-21 14:01:25 |
I join the group. You can send me email to zlan@hotmail.com if I do not post on here. |
SouravL2 @2006-08-22 14:07:41 |
Danlan2, Kafley2 and I have downloaded the materials. I'll start with FSA and Economics. And yeah, got your e-mail Id. Will keep you posted. They have case studies in the Ethics portion. Has someone got the study materials from CFAINSTITUTE, yet. I liked the Ethics portion from the CFA Study materials, in L1. But, this time I'm gonna purchase them when I'm done with Analystnotes. You people may have noticed, there are fewer basic and review questions in L2 study notes. Hope that suffices. |

Hey this is Ravin, first of all congratulation to all of you for getting through Level 1. I need some tips from you guys for Level 1 preparation. I am planning take up the exams CFA level 1 exams in June 2007. I would be thankfull of you guys if you can give me some study materials or if cant then please advise what all notes and study material i should refer. If anybody of you is in bangalore then would like to meet in person for tips. One more thing I want to confirm from you guys whether i am eligible for enrollment or not and Indian Bachelor degree is equilant to US degree?. I have B.Com(Hons) from Delhi University. |
SouravL2 @2006-08-24 18:41:19 |
Ravin if your bachelors degree is of three years duration then you are not eligible to be called a, US equivalent, bachelors Degree holder. If it is you can tide over the problem with a masters degree from an Indian University. Then you'll have 10+2+3+2=17 yrs. of education. You can take CFA level 1 when you know that by the end of that year you'll have 16 yrs. of education. In your case maybe 17. Hope, this answers some of your questions.Bye. |

Hey saurav thanks for the answering my question. I have one more question now. I am Doing MBA distance learning from M.D University, will this degree make me eligible, I am apearing for last semester in January, can I enroll for CFA level 1 June, 2007? Can you give some tips as well for preparation, give me notes as well if you have. Thanks Ravin |
danlan2 @2006-08-30 17:26:48 |
Since different people may work on different topic, I plan to create different online L2 learning groups for different topics as follows: You can post on any group you are working on. Ethic L2 Study Group - Online (Session 1 and 2) Quantitative Methods L2 Study Group - Online (Session 3) Economics L2 Study Group - Online (Session 4) Financial Statement Analysis L2 Study Group - Online (Session 5, 6, 7) Corporate Finance L2 Study Group - Online (Session 8, 9) Asset Valuation, Equity L2 Study Group - Online (Session 10, 11, 12, 13) Fixed Income L2 Study Group - Online (Session 14, 15) Derivatives L2 Study Group - Online (Session 16, 17) Portfolio Management L2 Study Group - Online (Session 18) |
SouravL2 @2006-08-31 02:19:59 |
That can help further, do it. It can become a little cumbersome though. But, I think It'll help. Today is the day I'll start with FSA Sessions 5,6,7. |
ravincfa @2006-08-31 11:42:44 |
Hey saurav i think you skipped my note, thanks for the answering my previous question. I have one more question now. I am Doing MBA distance learning from M.D University, will this degree make me eligible, I am apearing for last semester in January, can I enroll for CFA level 1 June, 2007? Can you give some tips as well for preparation, give me notes as well if you have. Thanks Ravin |
danlan2 @2006-08-31 13:33:58 |
SouravL2, thanks for the support. I tried to create groups, I clicked on "New Thread" button above, but could not create the groups. Could you please let me know how to do it or create them yourself? I spent sometime to go through ethic (session 1), quant, fixed income and derivatives, now I am moving the FSA, which is said to be the most time cosuming. |
SouravL2 @2006-08-31 18:20:07 |
Ravin, as far as my understanding of the requirements goes. I think you are eligible for June 2007 Exams. The requirements state that you should have a Bachelors Degree by the year end in which you appear for the exam. In your case it'll over some where around June 2007, latest. And, you needed that by 2007 end. So, that makes you eligible. Another thing I wanted to point out is that either way you can enroll and take the exam. In case the degree requirements are not fulfilled they won't let you take L2. So, you will already be on your way to earn the charter because you'll fulfill the requirements by 2007 end, anyway. Hope this helps. Bye. |
danlan2 @2006-09-01 17:25:56 |

Can you create those groups for me as follows: Ethic L2 Study Group - Online (Session 1 and 2) Quantitative Methods L2 Study Group - Online (Session 3) Economics L2 Study Group - Online (Session 4) Financial Statement Analysis L2 Study Group - Online (Session 5, 6, 7) Corporate Finance L2 Study Group - Online (Session 8, 9) Asset Valuation, Equity L2 Study Group - Online (Session 10, 11, 12, 13) Fixed Income L2 Study Group - Online (Session 14, 15) Derivatives L2 Study Group - Online (Session 16, 17) Portfolio Management L2 Study Group - Online (Session 18) Thanks. |

I would like to join the group. 200matt@gmail.com. May I ask the group which study materials are you reading for Level 2 ? Right now I rely solely on AnalystNotes for Level 2 because I do not know which study material to purchase, after reading so much of negative comments on Schweser, Allen Resources etc. Your comments and inputs on other study materials will be very much appreciated. Thank you. |
kishan @2006-12-28 22:07:20 |
This is for Sourav and Danlan..guys could you please tell me which notes are you using for L2 preparation other than materials from this website. Thank you |
danlan2 @2006-12-30 22:51:44 |
I also use CFA official readings. Is there anyone who is reading study session 5, 6 and 7 (for FSA)? Those parts are really boring and hard to read. |
