Hi Guys; I am new to this forum, and am in dire need of assistance. I have study materials from AnalystNotes 2015 and plan to write the CFA level 1 exam in Dec 2019. Although I have a year to study, I don't know where to begin or what to study. In university, I took a couple of finance courses. I've also read "Investments," by Bodie and Kane. Still, I have absolutely NO clue how to approach this.. I feel like screaming!!!! Would someone be so kind as to help me draft a study plan? help on material that i need to cover, as well as any other tips would be greatly appreciated! (btw, is AnalystNotes 2015 too old? the way i see it, the CFA level 1 tests on finance knowledge, and tests will be probably similar from year to year, right?) This forum is awesome. Expect many more annoying posts from me... at least until December 2019. Thanks! |

When I studied for my L1, I used the previous year's notes. Even though most of the materials remain the same. They do change from year to year. Some topics are different. 2013's notes I think are too old. I was in a very similar position to you in terms of pre-existing knowledge. I used the CFA textbooks. Get the study guide from CFA website and start reading the material - either the CFA text or the latest analystnotes. |

Hey nomadees, I studied investments from bodie and kane too..in fact i took a course last semester in Investments. This should put you in a very good shape for SS 12-17. I was going through these study sessions and felt like I already knew everything, thanks to the investments course! It also help you in SS 11 -Corp. Finance thing. I think 2015 AnalystNotes study notes are a little too old. Ideally, I would go for the latest stuff. There is a reason why CFA Institute changes the syllabus every year. So it's better to stick to it. Anyway, it's just $99 to get the offline package. Hope this helps. |
