Hello to all....I need to know which text books are recommended for level 1 n are these helpful for other levels as well? Please provide me with the author name and title of the books i will be gr8ful... Thankyou Doped Accountant. |

Hi, doped. I'm not quite sure about recommended books, but I found this books quite useful. 1. "Financial Accounting: A Global Perspective", by Short, Libby, and Libby. 5th edition. -----One reason why i like this book is that, it gives financial ratios at the end of appropriate chapters, so you are not confused with their meanings. 2. "Foundations of Corporate finance", by Ross, Westerfield, Jordan. -----Very easily explained book, u won't get confused. And also, it shows how to use your financial calculator to solve different kinds of problems. 3. "Essentials of Investments", by Zvi Bodie, Alex Kane, and Alan J. Marcus, Sixth Edition. -----I like the way how they explained fixed income securites in this book. Thats it for now. :) Luck. |

I don't have a finance degree, and used "Accounting Demystified" before going into Financial Statement Analysis. Awesome for someone who hasn't had a formal accounting course. |

I feel you needn't follow any accounting books other than the course material provided by CFA Institute. Though it would definitely be useful (if you have more time), but CFA curriculum is designed in such a way that it starts with a very basic overview of a topic area and then delves deep into it. So I feel without following any other text book you can clear the levels. |
CFA Discussion Topic: Which textbooks are recommended?
I just wanted to share the good news that I passed CFA Level I!!! Thank you for your help - I think the online question bank helped cut the clutter and made a positive difference.
